Peacefully ended her long fight with leukemia on October 22, 2017, in her sleep, and on her own terms at the age of 61. Born in Whitehorse in 1956 to Ernie and Doris (née Davies) Weigel. She was raised in Victoria and attended Reynolds Secondary School. Dorene was an avid gardener, genealogist, environmentalist and dedicated volunteer in her community. She is survived by husband Clark, son Ryan, sisters Lynda (m. Wayne s. Morgan) and Cathy (m. Terry).
A Celebration of Life to honour Dorene on Sunday, November 5 at 2:00 PM at Crossroads United Church, 7655 120th St., North Delta. We are especially grateful to the wonderful nurses and doctors at VGH who cared for her over the recent months. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the VGH Leukemia BMT program (leukemiabmtprogram.org) and/or donating blood (blood.ca/en/donate) in her honour.
