SAAR, Doreen Elizabeth (nee Hein)
January 20, 1930 – January 17, 2017
Doreen passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 surrounded by love in the presence of her husband, Edwin Saar, and her four children: daughters Gail Giammarino (Gino), Debbie Clarke, and sons Lloyd Saar (Candace) and Bruce Saar (Kim). Born on January 20, 1930 in Scapa, Alberta into a family of 13 brothers and sisters; Doreen leaves behind her sister Elsie, 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Doreen was instrumental in building the family trucking business and actively participated in ensuring the ongoing success of the company. She also enjoyed spending many winter months in their vacation home in Phoenix, Arizona along with her husband, Ed, and hosting the steady stream of vacationing family members. Doreen was a longtime owner of many thoroughbred horses that she loved to watch race in Calgary and Edmonton. She was a wonderful dancer, tireless home keeper, terrific cook, loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend. Rest in Peace, Mom — We Love You. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Eden Brook Funeral Home on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to service.
