RITCHIE, Donald William Edgerton, age 82, peacefully and comfortably passed into the arms of Jesus at his home in Ottawa, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 after a brave struggle with work-related lung cancer. Born on August 23, 1935 in Mulmur, Ontario, the only son of Edgerton & Olive Ritchie (Duffin). Predeceased by sisters Isobel (and her husband Roy Baker) and Reta (and her husband Morris Worthington). Survived by his devoted wife of 56 years Pauline (Sinclair), their two children David (Catharine) and Christine (Glen Parkinson), and five grandchildren (Rebecca, Parker, Josephine, Dorothy, and Vera), and his sister Doris (wife of De Duffin, deceased). A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Saturday, September 23 at Rothwell United Church, 42 Sumac Street in Ottawa. The family will receive friends at the church between 2 and 3 p.m. for visitation. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served by the Rothwell UCW after the service. Interment at Minesing Union Cemetery in Minesing, Ontario at a later date. Heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Albert Swedani Family Medicine, the Regional Palliative Care Team at Bruyère, CCAC, Bayshore Home Health, WSIB, Reverend Mike Perreault, and the church family at Rothwell.
