Burchill, Donald Joseph – 76
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father Don
Burchill on 19 March 2017.
Don (Donnie) was born in Saint John, New Brunswick on St.
Patrick’s Day, 17 March, 1941. Don graduated from
St. Malachy’s Memorial High School and Saint John Vocational
School before joining the Lancaster Police Force, which amalgamated
with what is now the Saint John Police Department. Dad left
the police force but always cherished his time on the Lancaster force
and remained a police officer at heart.
Don was raised in Milford and spent many years living on the
West Side and Maces Bay. He resided in the Welsford area
before his passing. Don was predeceased by his partner Sharon Hatfield
and his parents Dennis and Pauline (Kelly) Burchill of West Saint
John. Don is survived by his favorite child and stunningly
beautiful daughter Marina Burchill and average looking son Neil
Burchill (both of Fredericton). His clever and awkwardly
witty oldest son Nick Burchill resides in Halifax. His
successful, athletic and occasionally irreverent youngest son Michael
Burchill lives in Calgary. Don was a proud and devoted
grandfather to his six beautiful grandkids: Kaitlyn, Aleks,
Owen, Vanessa, Colin and Ella. They were the light of his life and he
was an amazing Grampy.
Don’s family would like to extend their gratitude
and respect to the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Saint John for
the exceptional care given to him.
The family deeply appreciates the condolences, sincere
thoughts, prayers and respect that have been shared with them since
his passing. He will never be forgotten and the memories of
him will be as strong and one-of-a-kind as he
was.
All services will be held privately. Arrangements
are under the care and direction of Brenan’s
Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, West
Saint John (634-7425).
