Donald Boucher
1938-2017
Donald Henry Alphonse Boucher of Wicklow passed away Thursday,
February 2, 2017 at the Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville from
cardiac complications.
Don, as everyone knew him, was born in Bellgrove, NB on May 16, 1938,
the son of the late Edgar and Mazie (Nielson) Boucher. He was also
predeceased by one brother, Darrold and sister in-law Ruth as well as
brother in-laws Richard Stone, Lewis Stone, and Allison Stone and
sister in-law Roseanne Stone.
Don is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 56 years June, his
sons Brant, Bentley (Sherry), and daughter Bernadine (Vance) Gibson,
along with several grandchildren: grandson Joshua (Paula),
granddaughters Danielle (Andrew) Smith, Dominique, Kirstie, Keri, and
great grandsons Logan, Levi, and Bo along with his brother Robert
(Anita) Boucher and sister Ernestine (Lawrence) Sweet.
Don was a successful businessman for years in the trucking and lumber
industries as well as served five years with the Royal Canadian Navy
and as a Correctional Officer at the Dorchester Penitentiary. But it
was his love of family and friends, skiing, fishing, business and
politics that became evident when spending time with Don – these were
his true passions. In his spare time, Don gave countless hours to the
Miramichi Salmon Confederation; the New Brunswick Wildlife Trust Fund;
the Irving Advisory Group; the Maritime Lumberman’s Bureau; the Board
of Directors for the Bath Manor; as well as remained a long time
standing member of the New Brunswick Conservative Party. In more
recent years, Don enjoyed the men’s night at the Faith Memorial United
Church preparing meals for guests and sharing in the fellowship. He
leaves a legacy of a strong work ethic, honesty, respect for the
environment, and compassion for others. He will be missed by
many.
