Obituary for Dieter Plikett
DIETER PLIKETT
Dieter Plikett of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away peacefully after a short illness on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Victoria General Hospital at the age of 84 years.
Born in Germany to Willi and Helene Plikett, Dieter’s family immigrated to Canada in the early 50’s. He lived first in Red Lake, ON with his family where he worked as a diamond driller, then later in Winnipeg where he was employed by Swift Canadian.
Dieter loved music and became band leader of the Happy Wanderers, playing at many weddings and social events in the Winnipeg area. In his spare time he loved to fish, spending many an afternoon or weekend at the lake or river. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and watching old TV westerns.
Dieter will be missed by his siblings and their spouses: Werner of Winnipeg, Brigitte Kastenschmidt of Lac du Bonnet, and Renate Childs of Abbotsford BC; four children and their spouses: Eva Gugenheimer of Edmonton, Dieter of Winnipeg, Danny of Selkirk, and Ed of Ste. Anne; seven grandchildren, a great-grandson and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
No services will be held as per Dieter’s request.
