Dianne E. Mc Carthy 9 novembre 1941 – 20 avril 2017

McCarthy, Dianne E.
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Dianne Elizabeth (Betty) who passed away peacefully on April 20, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer, with her family by her side.
Mom was born on November 9, 1941 to Stan and Anne Cherkas in Vulcan, AB but spent her first years in Lamond. She then moved to Edmonton where she resided the rest of her life.
Mom had two older sisters; Kathleen (deceased a few days after birth) and Marie Jeanette; two brothers Stanley Edward and Franklin Joseph; all who have predeceased mom.
Mom had three children; Mick, Bud and Terri with her first husband Walt Zaboroski; daughter Lora with her second husband Leo McCarthy.
If you asked mom what her greatest accomplishment was, she would say her children, then her grandchildren.
Mom loved to garden and cook as evident in her yard and kitchen. A bowl of borscht was always a treat made with love. Her kitchen table was the focal point for many wonderful conversations.
Mom always gave her best, did her best and loved unconditionally to all those whose lives she touched.
We would like to thank Dr. Smylie and his team at the Cross Cancer Institute; as well as Dr. Barton and all the wonderful staff at the Norwood Palliative Care Centre who made mom’s last days meaningful and peaceful.
A celebration of mom’s life will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton, on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2 pm.
At mom’s request, please wear bright colours.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Norwood Palliative Care Unit.
