Mercer, Derek C. – It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Derek C. Mercer, age 64, at the Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by his wife, Dorothy (Knight), his sons Bradley and Brian (Danielle) and their children Brianna and Addison- Pop’s little Princesses. Derek was predeceased by his father Chester Mercer (1998) and father-in-law Alex Knight (2005). Also leaving, mother Joan, sister Dianne (Pat English), brother David (Betty), mother-in-law Gladys Knight, sisters-in-law Carolyn (Bill Day), Kathy Knight, brother-in-law Alex (Jill), also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and work colleagues. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Friday and Saturday, December 9th & 10th, from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. Memorial service will be held at Barrett’s Chapel on Sunday, December 11th at 2:00pm. Flowers accepted, or donations in his memory may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice.
