It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother and friend Tina DeGraaf. Tina passed away peacefully at Cowichan District Hospital with her family at her side. Tina immigrated to Canada from Holland with her Husband Oene and became a Canadian Citizen in February of 1968. Tina was predeceased by her husband Oene on October 9, 1973. She opened up a small soup and sandwich shop in the 80’s downtown Duncan, then a restaurant in the Duncan mall [The Ivy Room.] After a successful career in the restaurant business, Tina retired to a quieter life with her family nearby. She truly loved the Christmas season and the time spent with her family. Tina was a kind, generous person always putting others happiness before herself. She will be missed for years to come, but will never be forgotten as her smiling face will remain in our hearts forever. Tina is survived by her children Howard, Joe (Mary Ann) and Kim (Jim), her grandchildren Melissa (Chris), Jason (Matt) and Mathew and great Grandchildren Taylor and Ryan as well her Sister and closest friend Hilda and Family, sister Jeanny in Holland, And Brother Tony and Family. There are many other friends and relatives that Tina’s life touched. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Until we meet again mom may you rest in eternal peace.
Tina’s Family would like to thank Dr. Jackson and all the nurses at Cowichan District Hospital for their compassionate care of our mother in her final days. Words cannot express how thankful we are to all of you for your kindness.
