Obituary for Debra Lee Duquette (Hopkins)
Debra Lee Helen Duquette 1958 – 2017
After a year-long battle with cancer, Deb passed away peacefully at the Temiskaming Hospital on Friday, December 29, 2017. Born in 1958 to the Fetterly family in Kirkland Lake, and adopted at the age of 6 by James and Marilyn Hopkins of Haileybury, Deb lived in the Haileybury area most of her life. Deb was always known as a hard worker, and was well-loved by many. Deb met Don Duquette in 1974, and after many happy years together, they married on December 10, 1990. Deb loved children and animals, and played a large part in the lives of her nephews Graham and Craig, who adored her.
She is survived by her husband, Don “Duke” Duquette, her mother and father, Marilyn and James Hopkins, her brother Herb (Correen), her sister Karen Ross (Lorne), 4 nephews and one great-niece and one great-nephew, and her dear friend, Liz Grant. Deb will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.
There will be no visitation or funeral service, at Deb’s request. Cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium. A celebration of Deb’s life will be held in the summer of 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Community Cancer Care or an animal shelter of your choice. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.buffamleveille.com.
