PETRASSO, Dawn Meadwell Carella
March 22, 1973 – August 18, 2017
“We have loved her during life. Let us not abandon her, until we have conducted her by our prayers into the house of the Lord.” Prayer of Saint Ambrose
At forty-four years of age, following a four-year-long and always valiant struggle with multiple cancers, Dawn succumbed on August 18, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Louis Petrasso, mother of Anthony (aged 17) and Michael (12),daughter of Franca and Tony Carella, she is survived as well by her sisters Mara Dunlap (Sam Perri), Tina Cyr, Diana Alonso (Ramiro) and her brother Mark Meadwell (Danuta Rosinska), as well as members of her extensive extended family. Pre-deceased by her brother Gregory John Meadwell.
Dawn was loved by all—from the day she was born, throughout her life, and in her passing—eased by her faith in God. The family offers special thanks to Dr. Vincent Maida, the staff of the Medias Klinikum (Burghausen, Germany), and of the Palliative Care Centre at Etobicoke General Hospital—where she was born, and to Father Claudio Moser, OFM, who, over many hours filled with talk, prayer, tears and laughter, prepared Dawn for a faithful farewell to this life.
Those she loved and who loved her take special comfort in the words of St. Teresa of Avila: “She whom God possesses wants for nothing.”
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Highway 7 (west of Pine Valley Drive), in Woodbridge. Visitation: Monday, August 21, 2-4, 6-9pm, Tuesday, August 22, 2-4, 6-9pm.
