Obituary of David Murrell
MURRELL- Dave of Port Colborne passed away at his residence on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the age of 75. Loving husband of Brenda Murrell (nee White), dear father of Derek (Michelle) Murrell of Niagara Falls and Stacey (Michael) Turner of Hamilton, dear grandfather of Mya Turner, brother of Carole (John) Kollaard-Heeringa of Bowmanville, son-in-law of Jim and Anne White, brother-in-law of Jim and Nadia White, Donna and Kerry Fallon, Cindy White and Hillary Findlay, uncle of Jennifer, Greg, Lisa, Bill, Michael, Jeffery, Dan, Tom, Jason, Adam, Kayla, Kern & Kyna. Also survived by many great nephews & nieces. Dave will also be missed by his great Aunts and Uncles-in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents William and Bertha (Eller) Murrell, his brother Donald (Ardith) Murrell and his brother-in-law George Kollaard. Dave grew up on a dairy farm in Wellandport, attended Pelham Hill and devoted years of service to General Motors – St. Catharines Foundry, upon retirement in 1994, Dave not one for sitting idle started driving school bus for Augustine, then began driving and working with the clients of N-tec. Dave and Brenda were married in 1970 in Port Colborne, shortly after Dave with the help of his in-laws built a country home on McKenney Road in Cooks Mills where they raised Derek and Stacey. In 1988, they purchased lakefront property where Dave, again with the help of his friends, in-laws and children began to build his labour of love summer log home. They moved into Portal Village, Port Colborne in 2006 so they could spend more time up North in the summer and take time to travel and explore the world on their own and more recently with his special granddaughter, Mya. Dave was always available to lend a hand, fix a toilet, re-shingle a roof or sit and enjoy your company with a Tim Horton’s coffee. A great friend of a son-in-law, a devoted husband, amazing father and tremendously loving papa. Always in our hearts. Cremation has taken place. The Murrell family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Private interment will take place at a later date at Overholt Cemetery.
