Obituary of David Trafford
David Alistair Trafford
(Born January 13, 1944)
After a brief illness, David passed peacefully from this life on December 4, 2017, surrounded by love. Beloved eldest child of Ralph John Trafford, Ottawa, and the late Alice Dalziel Trafford (née Balfour); brother of Mary Trafford (Susan Owen), Chelsea, Quebec. Also survived by sister-in-law Linda Tremblay, and nephews Paul, Brian and Blake Trafford, all of Ottawa; and aunts and cousins in the United States and Great Britain. Predeceased by his siblings Alan Trafford (August 2017) and Anne Trafford (1998). Born in England, David came to Canada in 1946 with his mother, a proud Scottish war bride. David served in the Canadian Armed Forces and later, worked for Canada Post in Ottawa. David’s family is deeply grateful to Dr. Naciuk, and the nurses and staff at Winchester District Memorial Hospital, for the excellent and compassionate care he received there. In David’s memory, please donate to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation at www.wdmhfoundation.ca and/or to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada at www.madd.ca. At David’s request, there will be no formal memorial service. St. John Chrysostom wrote: “He whom we love and lose is no longer where he was before. He is now wherever we are.”
