David Murray Neill
1931-2016
David Murray Neill, age 85, of Devon, NB passed away
peacefully at the Oromocto Public Hospital on December 15, 2016
surrounded by his loving
family.
David was a lifelong resident of Fredericton, NB.
His love for sport and community involvement led him to be a valuable
member of numerous local organizations. His involvement in these many
groups helped to fulfill his passion for story-telling, singing and
social interaction.
An avid, lifelong Montreal Canadiens, and more
recently, a devoted Lakers fan, he had an uncanny ability to recall
every play and statistic. One of Dave’s biggest passions was
fishing with his buddies and his family members on the Miramichi
River. Despite how many fish were landed, he was happy just to keep
everyone entertained with his endless stories and jokes. No one could
have an entire room in stitches quite like
“Pa”.
Pa was never seen without one of his many canine
friends by his side. Sandy, Lady, Harry and Gail were very lucky dogs
to spend their summer days swimming at the camp and to share each and
every one of Pa’s meals. “The Camp” in Bear
Island, NB was one of Pa’s most treasured places.
He was happiest when his children and grandchildren were all
together swimming in the head-pond, jumping off the float or roasting
marshmallows on the bonfire. Nothing provided Pa with more fulfillment
than being surrounded by his family. He was always his grandkids
number 1 fan and was a familiar face around the rinks, gyms and
tracks. He would travel across the province, country and even North
America just to support his grandkids at their numerous sporting
events.
Dave is predeceased by his parents, Alice and John
Neill and his brother Frank Neill. Pa will be deeply missed by his
wife of 63 years and love of his life Jennet, his three children:
Terry (Maurice) Wiart, David Neill, and Holly (Kevin) Daley, his seven
grandchildren: Jaime (Ian), D’arcy, Nicki, Kelsey, Robbi,
Tyler and Katelyn and his great grandchildren, Jenna and Keeland. He
is also survived by his nephew Brian Neill, and many close friends and
relatives.
We would like to extend a most sincere thank you to
the staff at OPH for the wonderful care and support they provided over
Pa’s last days. We are also extremely grateful for Melissa,
Twila and the great staff at the DECH during his extended stay, and
the staff at White Rapids Manor.
It is not goodbye, it is see you later. Thank you
for your big, kind heart and caring demeanor. We love you and will
miss you every day
forever.
Visitation will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday,
December 21, 2016 at Bishops Funeral Home with a celebration of his
life to follow at
2:00pm.
The family
would ask that donations be made to the SPCA or a charity of your
choice. Online condolences and the sharing of memories may be
expressed through www.bishopsfuneralhome.com.
