It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Betzner. He passed peacefully on July 8th, 2017 at the age of 56 with family and friends by his side at the Bickle Palliative Care Centre. David will be remembered as a warm hearted and cheerful man who was devoted to his family and friends. David was a loving husband and companion to Tanya Purchase. Adoring father to Alexander Betzner who brought true joy to his life. Cherished son, who will be sorely missed by his parents Ann and Leon Betzner; his sister Lynn Betzner (husband Robert Lyon) and their children Atticus and Adeleine Lyon. Missed also by Tanya’s parents Wayne and Irma Purchase, Dan McCormack, Michelle Purchase and niece Violet. David was born and educated in Grimsby Ontario and earned a degree in Computer Science at Brock University. David has been active for years volunteering with the Brock Alumni. He was a dedicated employee and worked most recently at Scotia Bank collaborating and leading his team. He enjoyed living life to its fullest with the company of family and friends. A special thank you is extended to the staff at Hamilton General Hospital and Bickle Palliative Care Centre for their excellent care and support. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity United Church, 100 Main Street West, Grimsby on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in Memory Hall at Trinity United Church. Private family interment, Queen’s Lawn Cemetery, Grimsby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
