“Dave the Barber” passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 after a brief, but intense, battle with cancer. David grew up in the Elnora area, where he was a jack of many trades until becoming a barber in 1960. After trimming and shaving his way around Central Alberta, he finally settled in Olds where he raised his daughters Laurel and Lindsey. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, playing and instructing various sports, and especially playing a round of golf. In his final weeks, David was surrounded by his many family and loved ones.
He is lovingly remembered by his 4th wife, Erlinda Sanchez; daughters, Cara Knapp and Tina Knapp of Maple Creek, SK; daughter, Laurel Bach-Knapp of Calgary; daughter, Lindsey Garner-Knapp (Peter) of Airdrie; siblings, Percy (Edith) Knapp of Rocky Mountain House, AB, Hazel (Ken – deceased) Kerebs of Calgary, Lloyd (Eileen) Knapp of Red Deer, AB; Dorothy Knapp of Red Deer, AB; Blanche (Gordon – deceased) Wells of Delburne, AB, Doug (Brenda) Knapp of Three Hills, AB; and Audrey (Ken) Preeden of Red Deer, AB; as well as 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by brother, John (1937); father, Ernest (1984); mother, Elfleta (nee Palmer, 1995); brothers, Wilfred (1995) and Leslie (2017).
A Celebration of David’s Life was be held at the Olds & District Evergreen Centre, Olds, AB on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the Olds & District Hospice Society, 6700 – 46 Street (PO Box 70026), Olds, AB, T4H 0A3.
