It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darrel Siray of Bellevue, AB on February 8, 2017 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre. He was 63 years of age.
Darrel, affectionately known as Lucy, was born in Lethbridge, AB on June 25, 1953 to loving parents, Leslie and Joyce Siray. Along with his brother, Kelvin and sister, Audrey, he was raised to cherish family and friends and to be a hard worker. The family moved to the Crowsnest Pass in 1962, and in the early 1970’s, Darrel relocated to Deep Brook, NS to proudly serve his country at the Canadian Forces Base Cornwallis. (It was in the army where he acquired the skill of making his bed so perfectly that you could bounce a quarter off of it!)
Darrel loved the outdoors, and he took advantage of living in the Crowsnest Pass by hunting and camping whenever he could. He also enjoyed reading westerns and was very interested in astronomy. Darrel worked most of his life as an underground miner, but was also well known as “Headcheese” at the Four Star Meat Shop. He could often be found having coffee with friends, catching up with them and discussing local news, and his some of his most precious memories were made while spending time with his sons, Braden and Tanner and with the little ones in the family. Darrel was a good man who will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his beloved mother, Joyce Siray of Bellevue, AB; his devoted sons, Braden and Tanner, both of Hillcrest, AB; his sister, Audrey J. Cervo of Passburg, AB; his sister-in-law, Roni Siray of Hillcrest, AB; his nieces and nephews, Linda, Keli (Eric), Bonnie (Travis) and Clinton (Amanda); his great nieces and nephews, Taylor (Tiffany), Morgan, Bailey, Alexzander and Danika; his great-great niece and nephew, Skylar and Brody; as well as many friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Leslie Siray; his brother, Kelvin Siray; and his brother-in-law, Gene Cervo.
