Daniel J. “Jerome” MacNeil

MACNEIL, Daniel J. “Jerome”
On June 12, 2017, at the age of 75, Jerome passed away
peacefully at his home in Lakevale, surrounded by his family. Born at
home, on November 11, 1941, Jerome lived in Lakevale until the age of
21 when he then moved to Toronto and secured a position with Good Year
Tire. Although Jerome grew to love Toronto, he returned to his roots,
in Lakevale, in 2002 to begin his retirement. Jerome was never idle
and loved to be outdoors. He loved to plant and, it seemed, he could
get anything to grow. He was always generous with any produce from his
garden and more than willing to give advice on how to grow the
greenest lawn in Lakevale. His love of nature was also evident in the
many animals he fed. He felt very strongly that it is our
responsibility to care and protect all wildlife. He was rarely seen
without his loyal friend, Jazz by his side.
Jerome was predeceased by his parents, Simon and Mary (Orton) MacNeil;
his brothers; Joey, Lawrence and Gary, his infant sister, Margaret,
brothers-in-law, David Grant and Melvin MacDonald. He is survived by
his brother Ronnie (Frances), sisters; Velma (David) Hebb, Sharon
MacDonald, Lenore Grant, Doreen (Donnie) Chisholm, Carroll (Greg)
MacPherson, Joanne (Allan) Pushie, special nieces Tanya (MacNeil)
Vickers, and Melanie (MacNeil) Kellar; sisters-in-law Kaye MacNeil,
Genevieve MacNeil, and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to MacIsaac Funeral Home. A
private family service will be held at Lakevale at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the local SPCA, or Cathy’s
Place, St. Martha’s Hospital.
“When tomorrow starts without me,
don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I’m right there in your heart”
