1936-2017
Daniel Patrick Hynes, age 81, of Mount William Road, New
Glasgow, passed peacefully Sunday, December 10, 2017 in the Aberdeen
Hospital. Born on Bell Island, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late
Maurice and Alice (Moriarity) Hynes. He was a member of the Steel
Workers and Iron Workers Union and worked at Maritime Steel, Glasgow
Metals, Trenton Works, Robb Engineering, the Iron Ore Mines in
Labrador, and shut downs locally and across Canada. He owned and
operated Krystal’s Kards and Komics and, along with his
wife, owned and operated Angie’s Variety in Trenton for many
years. He was someone so very special. One of a kind. He was a very
caring, gentle man, with a heart of gold. He never wanted to see
anyone go without. His kindness and thoughtfulness is what made us the
family we are today. He is survived by his daughters: Danna Hynes
(Scott Wilson), Eureka; Dawn Hynes, Plymouth; sons: Dale, Trenton;
Maurice, Plymouth; Daniel, MacPherson’s Mills;
grandchildren: Krystal (Fraser) Holmes; Aaron Rundle; Faith Hynes;
Kale Hynes; great grandchildren: Presley and Asa Holmes; sisters:
Maureen (Pete) Rodgers, Newfoundland; Ann (Norman) Payant, Ontario;
brother, Mike, Ontario. He was predeceased by his wife, Angeline
“Angie” (Slade); sister, Loretta Casio. Visitation 2-4 and
7-9 pm Thursday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 73 High St.,
Trenton. Donations in his memory may be made to the Palliative Care
Unit C/O Aberdeen Health Foundation or a charity of
choice.
