It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Curtis Oliver, 77, on Dec. 26th, 2017, in Halifax NS at the Parkstone Nursing Home after a long battle with Parkinson’s and Diabetes. He was the son of John Oliver and Martha Williams and was born on Ticoralak Island in Northern Labrador where he spent his life until the age of 40 working as an inshore salmon fisherman, a trapper and a carpenter. After his marriage he moved to Northwest River and then Goose Bay where he continued to work as a carpenter. His great loves were the outdoors and his family and he took great enjoyment in spending time at his winter and summer cabins. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Oliver, sons Eric Oliver (Cecilia Carrea) and Jason Oliver (Annik Gaudet), granddaughter Coral Oliver in Halifax, sisters Sarah (Garland) Baikie, and Belinda (Harry) Shiwak in Rigolet and predeceased by his brother Joe (Garmel) Riche.
