Claudette Anastasia (Burke) King
1960-2017
King, Claudette Anastasia
(Burke) – Evanston, Richmond Co. Today we
express our profound thanks to Claudette Anastasia (Burke) King for
filling her 57 years of life with laughter, generosity and kindness.
Cancer took her on the rainy morning of Saturday, December 2, 2017
surrounded by her loved ones after a month’s long battle
which she fought with her characteristic humor and boundless
courage.
Born on October 12, 1960, she was the youngest of three and
is reunited with her parents, Alex and Amelda Burke, brothers,
Augustine and Mark, in eternity; sister, Mary John and brother, Joseph
both of whom passed away at birth.
Her love of animals
and colorful language is carried on in life by her loving husband,
Joey, children, Andy, Patrick, and Alyson (Adam Burke) and her
absolute pride and joy, her granddaughter Elena Mae. She also cared
for and took great delight in all of her fur babies, Mocha, Nissa,
Tela, Rocky, Bell, Dallas and her grand-fur babies, Abby, Susan,
Jasmine and Myla.
If we can judge a person’s character by how they
treat animals and those weaker than themselves, Claudette could be
considered saintly. Her work as a CCA at Richmond Villa, St.
Peter’s was just another way she made this world a better
place for others. While she was always uncomfortable being the one
taken care of, she and the family would like to express their eternal
gratitude to all the staff of the Victoria General Hospital,
especially the 8th floor BMT team and 3rd floor ICU
team.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Friday, December 8 in the
River Bourgeois Visitation Parlour, River Bourgeois. Funeral mass will
be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9 from St. John the Baptist Roman
Catholic Church, River Bourgeois with Father Antolin Asor officiating.
Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Donations can be made to the River Bourgeois Community
Services Society for the splash pad project. Funeral arrangements are
under the care and direction of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home,
St. Peter’s. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family
