Claudette Alba Harper – 2017

Obituary for Claudette Harper
Claudette Harper was a remarkable woman with many eloquent qualities. She was a go getter and was always challenging herself to try new and different things to better herself both personally and professionally. She was a driving instructor, a manager at Carlton Housing in Lloydminster, instructor at Lakeland College, and she was the first Executive Director of the Lloydminster Native Friendship Centre, just to name a few. She had also received several rewards throughout her life because of her drive and compassion for helping people. The most notable award being “Loving Mother”, not only to her own children, but to countless others she took under her wing. She was “mom” or “Kokum Bossy” to many. Her passion, her life, revolved around her children and grandchildren. Her eyes sparkled and her heart sang as she watched her children and grandchildren dance. She was so proud. She had a love for beading, gardening and creating beautiful treasures. She loved her Timmy’s coffee, keno, and would always play the max bet when she had the opportunity to play slots. She was never one to refuse anyone in need of help and her home was always open and welcoming. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity she bestowed on others. She was not one to judge or look down on others. She was respectful, honest, strong and resilient. The teachings of her compassion, caring and generosity will resonate with all who have had the privelege of being a part of her life.
She is predeceased by: her parents, Archie Paddy and Ann Jane Harper; her adopted parents, Arsene and Marie Cardinal; her father and mother in law, Wilfred and Alice Carter; her grandparents, Francis and Betsy Harper; her brothers, Clarence Paddy and Hubert Cardinal; and she step daughter, Roxanne Johnson.
Claudette is survived by: the love of her life, Joe Carter; her children, Marty (Christine), Tim, Raelene, Mathew and Josh; her grandchildren, Ian, Jaeden, Tymon, Breanne, Bryton, Tristan, Makayla, Pharrell and Elijah; her adopted daughter, Asinee Littlewolf; her adopted grandchildren, Tazdyn, Tyesah, Rylan, Carter, Langden and Jace; her great-grandchild, Jaelin Albert; her sister, Carol Harper; her half brother, Bruce Paddy; her adopted brothers and sister, Donald, Dorothy, Eric, Jean, Clement, Emma, Donnie Cardinal, Susie Cardinal Knox, Doris Carter and Freda Yellowbird; her brothers and sisters in law, Rosie, Audrey, Brian (Gloria), Emma (Bruce), Nelson (Irene), Bev, Fran, Darrell (Laverne), and Jason (Trina); and numerous nieces and nephews.
