Obituary Overview
Clara Patricia Adams
Adams (Carvery), Clara Patricia “Shump” age 76, of East Preston, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on December 12, 2017.
Born in Africville, she was a daughter of the late Stella (Dixon) and Reginald Carvery.
Clara enjoyed gardening, cooking and family. She worked for many years before retiring from Maritime Tel & Tel. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking care of her baby brother, and cherished conversations with her special granddaughter, Kenya.
Clara is survived by her partner in faith and love, Marvin Riley; daughters, Venetia Howe, Susan Wright; sons, Charles “Anthony” (Elaine), Corey (Ada), Martino; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Karene (Charles) Mayfield, Sharon Carvery, Gail (Fred) Perry, Kim Polegato; brother Kevin Carvery and many nieces and nephews.
Clara was predeceased by her husband Charles “Bucky” Adams; and brother, Reginald “Mickey” Carvery; and sister Gloria Gordon.
Visitation will be held from 7-9pm on Thursday December 14, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place at 1pm on Friday December 15th in New Beginnings Church, Pastor Kirby Spivey III, officiating, assisted by Rev. Stewart Williams. Cremation and interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery to take place at a later date.
Flowers are welcome. Donations in memory of Clara may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
