February 27- 1933 – October 27- 2017
Christina was born at Cold Lake Alberta to Christiana & William Nolin, she was the youngest of 9 children. She grew up in several towns in Alberta and B.C. including Vermillion, Medicine Hat, High River and Penticton.
It was in High River that she met and married the love of her life Robert Henderson in 1954. She became a military wife and along with their three children Deb (John) Gross, Diane (Mike) Williamson, and Rob (Renae) moved to military bases in Alberta, Ontario, Germany… and England. Mom and Dad loved to travel and did a lot of sight seeing across Canada, the States, Hawaii and Europe, Paris being her favorite destination.
Christina’s grandchildren were the light of her life, she was not only their Nan but a friend & confidant and cherished every moment she spent with them, and gave them many loving memories to hold forever in their hearts.
Mom’s other passion in life was shopping, whether window shopping or purchasing items, she loved spending time at South Center Mall. We often teased her about the employee discount she received at Eaton’s café. She had a knack at decorating, and her artistic talent shone in their historical home in High River.
Christina had a gift of touching the heart of those she met. Her smile, and witty sense of humor has brightened many hearts.
Mom has had many challenges the last nine years. First losing Dad, numerous health issues, and then the emotional flood of 2013. Although she lost their 110-year-old home and belongings in the flood, she was reunited with her two eldest children Trevor (Lorraine) McIntosh, and Brenda (Barry) Fleece.
The last two years of her life, her travelling days were over, as she fell, lost her mobility and moved to the second floor of the High River Hospital. The staff were amazing and we would like to thank Dr. Jeeva and all the High River Hospital staff who helped make 2nd floor a comfortable home for her. We were very blessed to have her final days spent with such caring and loving people!
In Christina’s memory donations can be made to High River Hospital 2nd floor Recreation Therapy who host weekly Bingo games, activities and shopping trips that Mom looked forward to.
There is another bright star shining down from the heavens, made from a heart of gold, a beautiful smile & gentle soul…. rest peacefully Mom in the arms of Dad, and grandchildren Mark and Kendra.
