Chennell, Rose
2017-01-28
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother Resina “ Rose” Chennell, Cowan Street, Westville on Saturday, January 28, 2017.
Born on February 2, 1919 in Amherst, Iles de la Madeleine, PQ, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Sophie [Boudreau) Vigneault. She moved with her parents at an early age to Pictou, Nova Scotia.
After marrying her husband John in 1941, she moved with him to Westville where they raised their family. She was proud to represent the town as Grand Marshall in the July 1st Parade in 2013.
Mom loved and was proud of her whole family. She made us the best homemade soups, stews and biscuits. We would all look forward to her special Christmas Meat Pies and her delicious Cheese Perogies were second to none.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Marilyn Osmond, Westville, Barbara Chennell (Pierre), St Henri, Quebec, Joyce Fraser (Dan) Westville and sons Walter (Debbie) Eastern Passage, and Tommy (Wendy), Westville Road. She was “Nana” to 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren with another on the way in early March.
Rose was predeceased by her husband John, great granddaughter Carsen Austin, brothers Alphonse and Thomas Vigneault and sisters Albertina Porier, Oxille Marsalais, Mary Jomphe, Louise Cyr, Emma Bourque and Theresa Vigneault, foster brother Leonard Gaudet and nephew Joseph Porier.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 and 7 –9 Thursday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 o’clock from The Church of The Holy Name, Westville with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Name Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
