Catherine “Chad” Veronica Meagher (nee MacDougall)
In God’s grace, Chad Meagher passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 13, 2016 with her family by her side. Chad was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years Nick Meagher. She was the last surviving member of her family of fourteen siblings and parents Alex and Mary Ann MacDougall. Her memory will rest forever in the hearts of her son Al (Carol Stephens), and her daughters Cathy, Elayne (Tom Rosko), Liz (Jerry Robazza) and Janice (Ray Viskovich). She was the proudest nana of Laughlin (Diane), Jennifer (Chad), Clinton (Sarah), John (Sharon), Pat (Stephanie), Jesse, Derek (Jennifer), Marlee (Danny) and great grandchildren Taylor (Adam), Jakob, Nolan, Dylan, Daniel, and Paige. Chad is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Chad loved to bake. Her bread and biscuits never lasted long once out of the oven. Her expertise, however, was in child rearing…along with Nick, they instilled the importance of faith and family in Al, Cathy, Elayne. Liz and Jan. Visits to Cape Breton every other summer strengthened that bond. She had a great devotion to St. Theresa and her beads were always in her hands with many intentions being offered for family and friends. She was a life-long member of CWL, and was honored to tend to the sick along with dad as a Eucharistic Minister. Chad’s keen ear for music began at a young age accompanying her dad on the organ while he played violin. She and Nick continued that tradition keeping music an important part of our lives.
Words don’t seem adequate in expressing our gratitude to the exemplary staff of the Kirkland and District Hospital and Teck Pioneer Residence. Mom was a grateful recipient of compassion and love during her brief stay in Toburn and KDH by all staff.
