Carmon Amos Schwartz
78, of Hubbards, passed away on Friday June 16, 2017 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater with his family giving him comfort as he knew he was going home to be with his Savior and also with Eva and Arlene. Born in Hubbards he was the son of the late Alonzo and Ilene (Harnish) Schwartz.
I loved my family and never interfered in their affairs. My thoughts that I was there if they wanted to ask for advice. I wish to say this “I apologize to all that I have hurt in any way.” I always had a knack for being outspoken in expressing my opinions and actions, or as some people would say ruffling the feathers. When I was able I was always willing to help out others first before doing my own projects. I attended Shatford Memorial School in Hubbards.I enjoyed my years working at Conrad’s White Rose where the head office of White Rose sent Mr. Conrad a letter saying how pleased a customer he was with my mechanical work. I also worked with Scotties, Sobeys, Snairs White Eagle Bakery, Choat’s Limited and my last and best job was Ben’s Limited, now Canada Bread. I volunteered for a lot of organizations. With my best friend Wilfred Morash, we formed the Village Vanners Van Club. Also helped organize the first winter carnival in Hubbards, which consisted of the Best Lit Homes and property Christmas Lights Contest, held in four areas from Head of the Bay to Mill Cove. among other activities. I also organized the first Hubbards Parade in conjuration with a Miss Hubbards District Volunteer Fire Department Pageant for the Hubbards District Fire Department. I was extremely proud to become a Past Provincial Grand Master of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Manchester Unity and equally proud to be the Citizen of the Year 2006 from the Hubbards Area Lion’s Club where I served as King Lion in 1985. I had a few sessions of dirt track stock car racing and continued my love of the sport by taping the races at Scotia Speed World for 17+ years. I became a volunteer with St. Margaret’s Cable programming the community channel with other volunteers and a new passion of doing radio shows on 88.7 Cove FM. I was a member of the Fellowship Community Church, which I felt was the best Church that God planted and that I made it the best I had ever attended. I was lost after the passing of Eva and our long-time friend Arlene Wile. Arlene and I became companions until her passing in 2016.
I am survived by my sons, Wayde, Wyatt (Wendy), Colin (Guia) and Timothy (Adrienne); daughters, Christine (Arthur), Carmen (Roger) Melanie; step-son, Paul (Helena) Whiting; step-daughter, Susan (Wayne) Mattinson. I am survived by companions children, Russell, Gretchen (Barry), Victor and Peggy (Billy). I have many grandchildren and great grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Paul, Brooklyn, Queens County; sister, Carol, Whynot, Milton, Queens County; sister-in-law, Anne Walsh, Linda Walsh; many nieces and nephews.
Besides my parents I am predeceased by my brother, Ernest; wife Eva, companion, Arlene; brother-in-law’s, Roland Walsh, Charles Walsh; sister-in-law’s, Sadie, Francis and Patsy.
I was a member of the Fellowship Community Church, Hubbards, now I attend William Black Memorial Church, Glen Margaret. Also, belonged to Hubbards Area Lions Club, Hubbards Radio Society- Cove FM, Royal Canadian Legion Harding Branch #144, Western Shore, where I served as Chaplin. RCL Branch #144 service before interment.
Interment service will be held with Eva will be held 11 a.m. Thursday June 22, 2017 in Pine Hill Cemetery, Hubbards. Rev. Bill MacDonald officiating.
