Obituary of Captain Gar McCrae
McCrae, Garold Nelson – a resident of Chatham, passed away at Windsor Regional Hospital on December 14, 2017 at the age of 80.
Born in Raleigh Township, son of the late Nelson and Florence (Redmond) McCrae.
Beloved husband of Rose (Kish) McCrae for 58 years.
Loving father of Dan and Mary Ann McCrae of Chatham and Mark and Sue McCrae of Calgary.
Loving Grandfather of Steven McCrae (Stephanie Finley).
Dear brother of Pat (late Ed) Forrest of Port Dover.
Predeceased by his brothers Len, Alick, Percy, Jack and Hugh, and sisters Sis (Lillian), Vi, Mary and Joyce.
Gar retired from the Chatham Fire Department as Captain after serving for 30 years. He was a member of the Kent Historic Auto Club and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home on Monday December 18, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The Funeral Service for Gar will be held at the Funeral Home, on Tuesday December 19, 2017 at 11am. Cremation to follow.
Donations in memory of Garold may be made to Ontario Professional Firefighters Association Retirees Cancer Claim Fund or charity of choice would be appreciated.
