It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Captain Darrell “Roy” MacPherson who passed away unexpectedly on Nov 27th 2017. He was born in St. Stephen N.B. on March 13th, 1944. Roy retired as a Senior Master aboard The Princess of Acadia. Roy spent his life working on the water starting out as a fisherman and working his way up to Captain. In his leisure time he was a talented cabinet maker, photographer, and an avid golfer. Roy was a proud member of the Company of Master Mariners, Lions Club, and St. Stephen Golf Club. Words that describe Roy are husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered as a caring, kind, fair, loyal, loving and generous man. Roy led a fulfilled life surrounded by family and friends.
Roy is survived by his wife and soulmate, Cynthia; his children :Lindy Nice (Bob), Dan MacPherson (Lise), Sarah Pearson (Ryan), Candace Dussault (Martin), Crystal Cook (Scott), and Cathy Neves (Garth). Grandchildren: Christie Nice, Jennifer Landers (Mark), and Bobby Nice; Dominique, Gabrielle, and Oliver Dusssault, Kyle and Alex Cook; Garrett and Lily Neves; Ben MacPherson; Noah, Grayson, Sawyer, and Hallie Pearson; Great-grandchildren: Rowan Thurston; Mae, and Cadan Landers. His step-mother Evelyn MacPherson; his brothers: Arnold MacPherson, Robbie MacPherson and Andrew(Ted) MacPherson and his sister, Philipa Corning.
He is predeceased by his father, Darrell MacPherson, his mother, Ruth Tatton, and his step-father, Scott Tatton.
The family would like to invite you to join them for a time to remember Roy at The S. O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB. on Friday, December 1st, 2017 from 2- 4 and 7- 9 pm.
