Campbell Wilfred MacGillivray
1931-2017
Campbell Wilfred MacGillivray, 85, passed away peacefully at
his daughter’s home in Halifax June 21, 2017. Campbell was
born October 2, 1931 in Antigonish. He was one of eighteen children
born to the late Angus A. MacGillivray, William’s Point and Catherine
‘Cassie’ MacLean of the Keppoch. Campbell was predeceased by his wife
Anne (Surette), nine brothers; Raymond and Vincent in infancy; Jack,
Father Joe, Collie, Ronald, Hughie, Duncan, and twin brother Johnnie;
and five sisters; Kay, Mary Janet, Rose, Margaret and Sarah.
He will be sadly missed by daughter Maureen, and his grand pooch Odi
,Halifax, brothers Bill (Hilda), Omer (Doris), Antigonish, sister
Claire Mitchell, Florida and many nieces and nephews who were a large
part of his life.
Many people will remember
him as ‘their barber’ and long after he retired he enjoyed staying
busy being Mr. Fix-it in his garage, he could turn a stick of wood
into a beautiful piece of furniture. Campbell looked forward to
spring, airing out the trailer and going fishing when the season
opened. Nothing could interfere with the weekly card games. In the
later years he rarely missed daily mass, staying informed with the
news channels on TV, reading The Chronicle Herald on line, emailing
friends and family, and watching his ball and hockey games
(thank goodness for closed caption at 2 a.m.).
Visitation will be 6-9
p.m. on Friday June 23, 2017 in MacIsaac
Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral mass will be
at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 in St.
Ninian’s Cathedral, Antigonish. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu
of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice.
