Byron was born and spent his childhood in San Francisco, California. During World War 2, Byron joined the signal corps of the United States Army Air Force, completing his officer training at Yale. He went on to be an instructor and eventually retired with the rank of major. After graduate studies at University of California, Berkeley, he worked in the Naval Radiological Research Laboratory. Later, he was a manager in the San Francisco City health system. Byron met and married Sheila Edwards in 1965. In 1988, Byron and Sheila retired to Victoria BC. He is survived by his wife Sheila, and his daughters Lisa McCammon (Peter) and Lori Davies of Florida. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise, for all their loving care and support of both Byron and Sheila.
