Burton Francis Small
1928-2016
SMALL: Burton Francis (1928-2016) Mr. Burton F. Small of
Woodward’s Cove, Grand Manan, NB passed away at the Saint
John Regional Hospital on Monday, December
12th, 2016 with his family by his side. He was
born the son of the late Walter and Mildred (Lovatt) Small. Burton was
a veteran of the Korean War, after the War he returned home to Grand
Manan to start his fishing career that lasted until his retirement.
Burton was an Honorary Life member of The Grand Manan Rotary Club and
a member of the Grand Manan Legion Branch #44. Often you could fine
Burton visiting with friends over a cup coffee or around the
wharfs.
Burton is survived by his wife of sixty four years,
Rowena (Green) Small, one son Bradley Small of Woodward’s
Cove, one daughter Suzanne Sparkes (Dannie) of Cross Creek, NB, six
grandchildren, Catherine, Daniel and Sarah Small, and their mother Ann
Small, Bradley, Geoffrey and Leanna Sparkes, two great grandchildren
Thea Sparkes and Alexander Small, one sister Mary McAlister of
Westbrook, Maine and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his
parents, one brother Spencer Small, and one sister Jetta
Smith.
Visiting will take place from Ells Funeral Home on Wednesday
evening from 7-9 pm and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, the funeral
service will be Friday December 16, 2016 from the North Head
Baptist Church at 1:00pm with Rev. David Philips officiating.
Donations in Burton’s memory can be made to The
North Head Baptist Church, The Legion Branch #44, Grand Manan Rotary
Club or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Ells Funeral Home
