Obituary Overview
Bohdanna Graham
Bohdanna “Doreen” Graham 1927 – 2017
With great sadness we said good-bye to our beloved mother and grandmother on November 14, 2017. She slipped away quickly and quietly in Edmonton with family at her side, just the way she had prayed for.
Doreen was born in Poland, March 2, 1927. Eldest daughter of 9 children. The family emigrated to Canada in June of 1939 and settled in the farming community of Cherhill, Alberta.
She moved to Edmonton as a young woman to make her life away from the farm. Mom had a natural talent for cooking and made a career of it. From working in cafes in the early years, to the kitchens of catering businesses, and ending at a private country club before retirement. She could produce a feast on a minutes notice. No one ever left her home hungry.
While working in Edmonton Doreen met Terrence (Terry) and they wed in 1952. They raised 4 children: Rita Lee, Robert, Sherry and Shelly. Doreen was lovingly known as Nana to grandchildren Robert Jr., Ojay, Robert, Eric, Edmund, Shannon and Kelly. And great grandchildren Zeballis, Ylkatalina, and Jackson.
Doreen was predeceased by her husband Terry, and daughter Rita Lee. Also left behind to feel the emptiness her passing has caused is her sister and best friend Alice, last surviving brother Emil, numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Plus many close friends in Vernon where she had lived for most of their retirement years.
There will be no funeral or memorial service at mom’s request. She will be joined again, forevermore, with Dad at Pleasant Valley Cemetery on May 3, 2018, which will be Mom and Dad’s 66th wedding anniversary.
