Bertha Immaculleta (Parker) Baker
1942-2017
BAKER (Parker), Bertha Immaculleta- Age 74, Canso. It is with
sadness and sorrow we announce the passing of our dear mother, Bertha
on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Bertha passed away peacefully with her
children by her side after a long courageous battle with COPD in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born on December 7, 1942, in Canso she was a daughter of the
late Basil and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Parker. She is survived by her
children, Allan (Darlene), Halifax; Michael (Rose), Bridgewater;
Margaret Ann, Canso; Donna, Canso; Breen (Yvonne), Middle Sackville;
grandchildren, Matthew, Rachael, Christina, Lori Ann, Justin, John,
Melissa, Taylor; great-grandchildren, Mia, Peyton, Marlee, Maci,
Holden, Davidson, Jacob, Jordan, Jaxson, Sailor, Zachary, Ethan,
Landon, Iris, Charleigh; brothers, Jim, Reg, Ernie, Frank; sisters,
Mabel, Marjorie, Rita (Diggy) and Jean. Besides her parents, she was
predeceased by her son, John Stephen; grandson, Michael; best friend
and niece, Betty “Nooksie”; brother, Michael;
sisters, Eva and Geraldine. She will be dearly missed by all her
nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and
friends.
Bertha lived her life for her children they were the most
important part of her every day. She will always be remembered as
being the rock of her family. Her passion was cooking for others,
nobody left her table hungry and whoever ate her food felt the love
she gave so freely. Her family would like to extend many heartfelt
thanks for the exceptional care and compassion shown to our mother in
her last moments. To the wonderful Dr’s, nurses and staff at
St. Martha’s Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday in Dennis
Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday
from Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso with Father Dan Mac
Donald officiating. Burial at a later date. Memorial donations may be
made to a charity of one’s choice. Family flowers only
