MEURS, Bernard (Ben)—
Passed away, peacefully, after a short illness, surrounded by his family, at Hamilton General Hospital, on Thursday, December 8, 2016. Ben Meurs, in his 72nd year, was the beloved husband of Ingrid (nee Butts) Meurs. He was the dear father of Paulette (Scott Grandston), Amber and Jonathan. Ben was the loving grandfather (“Grampy”) of Mathew, Maia and Ryley. He is survived by his four sisters Diane Scheeringa (Evert), Joanne Bouwmeester (late Hank), Jane Humphries (Bill) and Brenda Needham (John), and by nieces, nephews and cousins. Ben was predeceased by his parents John and Beredina (nee Buunke) Meurs.
Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Vigil for Ben will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma St., Guelph, on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Interment, Memory Gardens, Breslau. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
