Bazil N. Lund
1928-2017
It is with deep sadness that the family of Bazil N.
Lund announce his peaceful passing on Thursday, May
11, 2017 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont
University Hospital Centre. Bazil was born in Moncton, NB, son of the
late Linus and Annie Lund.
After graduating from Moncton High School, Bazil went
to work with a maritime based beauty supply company, eventually becoming a shareholder and the
company’s president until his retirement. In 1954
he married the love of his life, Madge,
and together they raised four daughters and five sons. Their
focus was their family, complementing each
other in providing for their children. We could not have
asked
for a better Dad. Bazil will be remembered for his love of life,
positive attitude and high energy. He was a great supporter of his wife and
children.
In his younger years Bazil was involved in many
sports, highlighted by playing short stop for the Dieppe
Cardinals when they won the Maritime
junior baseball title. As his children grew, he restarted his love
for golf and got involved in owning
Standardbred race horses, chasing around the Maritimes to watch
them race. When it came time to head to
P.E.I, for the races, a better day could not be had. His love for
P.E.I, has been passed down to his
children, who continue to enjoy summer vacations
there.
Bazil will be missed by his wife of sixty two years,
Madge, his daughters Pamela, Donna (late Doug MacFadyen), Kathleen Oke (George), Elizabeth Smith
(Richard), sons Gregory (Francine), David, Grant (Tammy), Paul (Corina) and Stuart (Jennifer) as well
as grandchildren Stephen (Jodi), Christine, Brett,
Katie, Sam, Alexa, Olivia, Patrick,
Andrea, Cassandra, Joseph, and great grandchildren Annabelle and
Roselyn. He is also survived by brothers
Gerald (late Maureen), Ralph (Lavetta) and Elroy.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by
sisters Beverley and Marie, brothers Urban, Walter, Harold,
Peter and
Cameron.
There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian
burial will be held at Saint Augustine’s Roman Catholic
Church on Wednesday May 17, 2017, at 11:00
am with Father Allison Carroll presiding. Reception to
follow. Interment will take place at Our
Lady of Calvary cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses
and staff at the dialysis unit of the Dr. Georges-L.-
Dumont University Hospital Centre for the
kindness and compassion shown to Bazil over the years. As well, they
would like to extend their thanks to the nurses of 3E and palliative
care.
