Avery Murray Edgett
May 4th, 1930 – March 11th, 2017
It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Avery Murray Edgett at the age of 86 on Saturday March 11th 2017 with his family by his side. Born in Curryville Albert County, May 4th, 1930. He was the son of the late Murray and Pearl (Douthwright) Edgett.
Avery was a hard worker and was employed with the Canadian Gypsum Company, Ford Auto Company, Eaton’s and Maritime Door and Window in until his retirement.
Avery’s greatest love was his life with Edna, wife of 62 years. You could always find them working together on multiple projects, crafts and gardening that he shared with his family. He undeniably touched everyone who knew him for his kindness and gentle nature. You could always expect to see him standing in the window with a big wave and grin after a visit to his home. His later years found many adventurous road trips around Albert County with his friends and getaways with his granddaughters. He was excited to get out and watch his great grandsons play hockey and never turned down the opportunity to get on the road.
He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Cheryl Simpson (Royden) of Hillsborough, Karen Steeves (Rod) of Shenstone and is son Brian Edgett of Salisbury. His cherished grandchildren, Stephen Simpson (Chantal) of Riverview, Jason Simpson of Hillsborough, Brittney MacDonald (Justin) and Chelsea MacDonald (Joseph) of Alma. His great-grandsons Colby and Gavin Simpson, his special little friend Paityn and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Edna, son Bernard, great-grandson baby Matthew MacDonald, sister Myrtle Steeves and brother Arnold Edgett. Avery was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
His family would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone who took such great care of him during his stay at the Forest Dale Nursing Home as well as the Fundy Royal Manor. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Avery will be laid to rest in a private family committal service at a later date.
For those who wish, any donations in Avery’s memory can be made to the Forest Dale Nursing Home Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, (506) 852-3530.
