It is with great sadness
that we the family announce the sudden passing of our brother Austin
McCarthy on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at his home in Corner Brook at
the age of 70 years. Austin was predeceased by his loving parents
Elizabeth and William McCarthy, his eldest brother Ferd and sisters
Helen, Carmel and Agnes. He is survived by one remaining brother Jerry
and sisters Mary, Margaret and Clare. Austin graduated from Regina
High School and worked in Labrador for many years. After returning to
Corner Brook, Austin was not without his struggles and for a time
lived at Xavier House. He then continued to reside in Corner Brook and
was employed at Scotia Recyclers until his retirement. Austin was a
private, polite, positive and independent person, always quick to
offer a helping hand, and had not a bad word to say about anyone. He
was a perfect gentleman, loved by all and will be sadly missed. The
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 at
10:30 a.m. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard
Avenue. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions
of sympathy, donations in Austin’s memory can be sent to
Xavier House, Mount Bernard Avenue, Corner Brook. The family guest
book may be signed by visiting www.fillatre.ca.
