Obituary
Dr. Arthur Gustav Szabo, 78, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully Wednesday Dec.20th in Ottawa, Canada. Arthur was born November 19th, 1939 in Toronto, Ontario to Hungarian parents Gustav and Elizabeth Szabo, the oldest of three children. He graduated from Queen’s University and then went onto complete his PHD in Chemistry from the University of Toronto. Arthur will be greatly missed as he had a zest for life, adventure, good food, great wine and fun. He loved to cook and was often referred to as Chef Arturo. Some of his passions were art, history, good restaurants and the desire to travel the world. His good laugh, sense of humor, intelligence and interest in life were just a few of the many attributes we admired. His life’s work and commitment to the continuing research in the field of molecular science was with him until the end. He had only just completed writing a new university textbook on biochemistry with emphasis on proteins. Â Most importantly he was committed to the love of his family, his continual support and kindness will remain dear to us forever. As we remember the memories we all d we can’t help but feel the large void he has left behind in our lives. Â Arthur was a proud father to Craig, David and Beth (Hodgson), and grandfather of Alex, Nick, Laina and Hugo, a wonderful brother to Sue and Ilona, and a loving partner to Ninfa Nicols. As an expression of sympathy can be made to the Leukemia Society of Canada. , tributes and may be made at tubmanfuneralhomes.com or by telephone at 613-722-6559. Â A celebration of life will be held in his honor at a later date in 2018.
