Arnold "Arn" Langner

Arnold “Arn” Langner

Obituary
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Arn Langner.
Arn was born in Moosehorn, MB and received his education in the Winnipeg area. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the RCAF from 1941-45. He trained as a Navigator and was stationed at Dorval with RAF Squadron 231 Air Transport Command. During flight training he met Grace Violet Morrison and they were married in St. Thomas, ON in August, 1943.
After the war Arn pursued various business interests in Ontario until he was transferred to Edmonton in 1956. He and his growing family settled into their new life in Alberta and Arn eventually opened his own sub-contracting business in the architectural metals field.
After retirement, Arn actively pursued a second career built around his passion for gardening and landscaping which kept him busy until he was close to 90 years of age. He left Edmonton in 1986 to move to his acreage in Legal, AB where he planted close to 5,000 trees and enjoyed caring for his lawns and gardens.
Arn was a strong-willed, independent man who possessed great physical strength and survived a wartime plane crash and two lightning bolts.
He was predeceased by his wife, Grace Violet in 2008. He will be lovingly remembered by his four children, Loy (Wayne) Krywko and Gylda Evans of Calgary, and Melodie Langner and Pat Langner of Edmonton; seven grandchildren, Krysty (Hugh) Babowal of Chappaqua, NY, Daryn (Candria) Krywko of Scottsdale, AZ, Celena (Thomas) Ashcroft of St Albert, AB, Kyler (Gail) Evans of Lethbridge, AB, Chad Evans of Halle, DE, Kelvin Langner of Edmonton, AB, and Kayla Langner of Ottawa, ON; nine great-grandchildren, Molly & Henry Babowal, Sloane Krywko, Eden, Cale & Ella Ashcroft, Kali & Leila Evans, and Tretton Cavers-Evans.
We wish to express our gratitude for the care and comfort of our father provided by doctors and staff at the Sturgeon Hospital and Norwood Hospice.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Chapel, 9 Muir Drive, St.Albert.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Norwood Hospice through Capital Care Foundation, 10909 Jasper Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB, T5J 3M9.
