SHANE, Arnie – Mr. Arnie Shane at Cornwall Hospice on Tuesday August 22, 2017 at the age of 81 years. Beloved husband of Donalda (née Wheeler). Loved father of Pat and Wendy; and stepfather of Eric Lamothe (Carole), Mark Lamothe (Veronica), and Todd Lamothe. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Nolan, Kelley, Blake, Marissa, Cale (Stephanie), Lauren (Travis), Jacob; and 1 great grandchild Maverick. Dear son of the late Ernest and Dora (née McAllister) Shane. Dear brother of Jean Price (Jack) of Cornwall. Also remembered by his former spouse Doreen Shane, and many nieces and nephews. Dear brother-in-law to Brian Wheeler (Sue) and Lorraine. Predeceased by his brothers Lambert, Lewis, Eric and Ray Shane; sisters Evelyn Warren and Marion Leblanc. Arnold led an active life. He was a Civil Engineer Technologist and spent a large part of his life working for consulting engineers. He was the former President and owner of Arnie Shane Contracting; Director of Public Works City of Cornwall; a member of the S.D.& G. Highlanders (active call-out); member of the Masonic Order Lodge No. 125; Member of the S.D. & G Cornwall Shrine Club; and member of the Royal Canadian Legion, among many other things. Arnie also loved sports and especially enjoyed his time playing semi-pro football. Resting at the Wilson Funeral Home where visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-4 & 6-9 PM and Friday from 9-10:15 AM. The Mass of the Resurrection with Commendation and Farewell will be celebrated in St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, 434 Second Street, West, Cornwall on Friday August 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Rite of Committal at a later date in St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery, Long Sault. If so desired contributions in his memory to Cornwall Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
