Apollo Ezra Lapatha was called to come home to be with his personal Lord and savior Jesus Christ on March 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm. He died with his loving and devoted wife of 49 years by his side. He passed peacefully at Concordia Place at the age of 80.
Apollo was born in a beautiful small island called Guimaras in the Philippines.
Being that his father was a pastor he grew up in a Christian home, a faith that he kept all his life and passed on to his daughters.
He went to college at Central Philippines University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He taught Mathematics for a time at Negros Institute of Technology. He then went on to be a civil engineer for more than 20 years at Bacolod City, Philippines.
On May 1, 1967 he was blessed to marry his wife, Loida. They shared many joys together as well as raising their two daughters in the Philippines, California and Canada.
Apollo loved to solve Math and Physics problems. He was also an avid Sudoku solver until illness gripped him. He enjoyed going to church, spending time with his wife and watching his three grandsons grow. He also enjoyed watching Manny Pacquiao box and got so engrossed in his boxing fights. He loved being with his brother and sisters and their family. There were many memories shared in Polo Park and Tim Horton’s every Sunday after church. He was so happy when he was with them.
Apollo was a kind, quiet, respectful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Apollo will be missed by his wife Loida, daughters Lois (Gamy), Grace (Steve) and his grandchildren, Christian, Callen and Etienne.
Left to cherish his memory is his younger brother Rev. Noel (Rosina), younger sisters Stella and Hope (Lance). He is further survived by his nephews Silas, EmiJoy, Steve, Philip, Jordan as well as his nieces, Hopelance, Jay, Emily, Florence, and many more close friends and family whom he held dear in his heart.
Together with Jesus, the saints and the angels, Apollo was greeted with open arms by those who preceded him, his father Emilio, his mother Iluminada, and his older brother Silas.
The family wishes to thank the staff for the care that was provided to Apollo during his last days at Concordia Place. The love and compassion from Concordia Place will never be forgotten.
Special thanks to the all the staff at Maples Personal Care Home for taking care of Apollo for one year and a half.
Although the family grieves his absence from his earthly body, the family has the hope of Heaven, a hope that they will see each other again. This is not where it ends –— it’s “Bwas naman, Pol” (see you tomorrow Pol) –— it’s “Lakat na kami De” (we’re going now dad) — it’s “See you later Lolo”. It’s not goodbye.
