Annie (Harder) WIENS - 2016

Annie (Harder) WIENS – 2016

Anne (Harder) Wiens was born on June 8, 1924 in Kuban, Russia to Johann and Anna Harder. At the age of two years, she immigrated to Canada with her parents and two older brothers. They lived in Manitoba, Humboldt, SK. and eventually settled on a dairy farm at Chilliwack, B.C. At the age of 13, Anne accepted the Lord Jesus into her heart and was baptized on the confession of her faith at the age of 17. At this same time, her father passed away, leaving her mother a widow with eight children. The family’s strong faith sustained them during this difficult time. Anne moved to Vancouver, B.C. to work and save money to go to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She enjoyed nursing for over 30 years. Anne’s mother lived with her for 22 years until she moved to a nursing home. In 1982, Anne married Bernhard Wiens and moved to Herschel, SK. She instantly became a farmer’s wife, stepmother and grandmother. It was an interesting and busy time with the children graduating from various schools and vocations, weddings and being a wonderful grandmother to 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In 1987, Bernhard and Anne moved to Rosetown where they resided until the present time. Anne is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband Bernhard; stepchildren Paul (Wendy), Karen (Doug) Bergren, Talita (Marv) Hildebrand, Judi (Randy) Clowes, Julianne (Justin Harris); grandchildren Steve (Lennae), Becky (Dave) Hannah, DJ (Raelene), Josh (Bre Sack), Chris (Jess) Bergren, Jen (Jesse) Hein, Angela (Adam) Sapelak, Brittany (Brooks) Thoring, Lindsay (Brady) Funk, Jordan (Alissa Snider) Hildebrand, Tyler Clowes, and Austin Clowes; great grandchildren Chase and Brynlee Wiens, Mackenzie Bergren, Abby Hein, Benjamin Sapelak, Archer Thoring and Hudson Funk. She is also survived by brothers Jack (Lorraine), Nick (Lena) and Ben. Anne was predeceased by her parents Johann and Anna Harder; sisters Nettie and Mandy; brothers John and George; sisters-in-law Daphne, Irene and Jessie; brothers-in-law John and Henry; and a nephew and a great niece. Memorial Donations may be made to SEND International of Canada, 1-22423 Jefferies Road RR5, Komoka, ON. N0L 1R0, which is a mission organization that Anne supported and her granddaughter and nephew work with.

Sympathies message

  1. Aunt Anne was my favorite growing up. I spent a lot of time with her as a child in Greendale and she was such a wonderful loving person. When she moved to Vancouver my brother and I took the bus to visit with her and she showed us the sights of the big city. It was such a great experience for us as young children. She was such a big part of the Harder clan and will be greatly missed.
