Obituary for Amy Ruth Stiles (Singh)
Amy passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 2, 2017 as a result of a horrific
car accident at age 38. She is survived by her soulmate and husband Randy, and her
three sons, Julian (12), Darian (10), and Preston (8), and (many fur babies). All are
heartbroken and will be profoundly affected by her loss. Amy was the only daughter
of Selvon and Debra Singh of Guelph and the only granddaughter of Don and Evelyn
Mayne of Amherst, Nova Scotia. She is survived by her two brothers Daniel Singh
(Haidee) of Georgetown, and Josh Singh of Guelph. Sadly missed also by her in-laws,
Paul and Tricia Stiles of Guelph, and her brothers-in- law Patrick (Mike), Ryan
(Heather), and Liam (Lauren) all of Guelph. There are many aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, and cousins across Canada, USA, Trinidad, and Bermuda who also loved
her deeply.
Amy graduated high school from the Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute in 1997.
She attended Ryerson University and completed her BScN in 2005. Her work history
included positions at the Homewood Health Centre, Grand River Hospital dialysis
units, and Groves Hospital in Fergus. She taught prenatal classes on a part time basis
for Wellington-Dufferin Public Health. Amy graduated with her Masters in Nursing
Education in 2014, from Athabasca University in Alberta. At the time of her death,
Amy was a well-respected faculty member at Conestoga College, holding the
position as Coordinator in the Personal Support Program based in Schlegel Villages,
Riverside Glen in Guelph. Her students past and present are also keenly feeling her
passing. The nursing community has lost a colleague.
Amy was always very active in her children’s lives. All the children attended the
Elora Co-op Preschool, where Amy was chair of the board for many years. Amy was
an active member of the Elora Public School PTA, as well as the Salem Public School
PTA. Amy relished in her boys’ many activities and pursuits and was a true
cheerleader Mom. Whether it was soccer, school track and field races, music lessons,
dance lessons, art projects, or allowing science and nature experiments on the
kitchen counter, she was there for her boys. She learned to know the specific makes
and models of any cars the boys constantly talk about. She was passionate about
outdoor play and as a family there were many long hikes on the Cataract Trail.
As a committed partner, Amy helped Randy in his graphic design business; (Jango
Sportswear/Magnum Jerseys) and was known as the helpful colour expert for her
colour-blind husband.
Visitation will take place from 1:00- 3:00pm on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Fergus Sportsplex, 550 Belsyde Ave East, Fergus, ON followed by a celebration of Amy’s life at 3:00pm. Funeral arrangements are provided by Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the Guelph Humane Society, would be greatly appreciated. Cards will be available. Reception to follow. Cremation has taken place.
