Alvin Simeon “Bud” Smith
1935-2017
Alvin Simeon “Bud” Smith – 82, of
Pugwash, formerly of Centreville and Greenwich, passed away Sunday,
November 26, 2017 in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre,
Amherst. Born in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Charles and Hattie
(Rhyno) Smith. He had been employed as an industrial mechanic with
Formex/Weavexx, Kentville, and later worked at the produce department
at Kent Co-op in New Minas. Alvin had a passion for all things
agriculture and was an active member in the local and international
Fur and Feather Association. He was also an active supporter and judge
with 4H for many years. He is survived by his wife, the former June
Patton, East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash; three daughters, Heather
Smith, Kingston; Marcia Smith (Ken Chisholm), Hantsport; Margaret
Smith, San Francisco; a sister, Jessie (Jim) McKay, Abbottsford, BC;
four grandchildren, Darryl, Vanessa, Clare and Samuel; five great
grandchildren, Zoe, Aurora, Keaton, Ayden and Justin. He was
predeceased by a brother, Edgar “Charles”. There will be no
visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception,
will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 in the White
Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Jen Riley officiating. Burial
will take place at a later date in Valley Crossroads Cemetery, Valley,
Colchester County. Donations in memory may be made to any local 4H.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
