Allen (Al) Albert Cyril Gee – October 1, 1939 – July 17, 2017

Allan (Al) Albert Cyril Gee passed away in Leduc, AB on July 17th, 2017 at the age of 77 after a lengthy battle with Congestive Heart Disease. Al was born in Cut Knife, SK on October 1, 1939. He was married to Marlene (Mardi) Gee and shared 47 years wonderful years together. After various jobs, he began his career with Pacific Western Airlines in 1969. He retired in 1993 as base manager in Yellowknife from what was then Canadian Airlines. At the age of 55, he returned to the University of Alberta to complete the Education degree he’d started 20 years earlier. He taught junior high and high school for 10 years; one year in Yellowknife and the remaining time in Grande Prairie. After retiring from teaching, Al and Mardi moved to Thorsby, AB where he built their beautiful home. Al was elected Mayor of Thorsby in 2007 for a 3 year term. He was passionate about his involvement in the community. Al loved scuba diving, camping, model airplanes, wood working and participating in the Grande Prairie Marching Band. Al is survived by his wife Mardi, sister Eleanor Campbell, daughters Kendra (Michael) Hand, Carrie (Jeremy) Bujold and Alana (Jeff) Morgan; grandchildren, Kylie, Annabelle, Lucas, Dylan, Alicia, and Ethan. He was predeceased by his parents Cyril and Maida Gee and his sister Elaine Evans. As per Al’s wishes, he will be cremated with no formal memorial service.
