Albert Kenneth Duncan was born in Big Valley on August 26, 1936. Albert was the second youngest of a family of 10 children. At the age of 16, Albert left home to work on the oil rigs, as a rig hand later Derrick man. Albert left Big Valley and went to work in Saskatchewan, where he met his wife Peggy. Later he moved to Regina were he started building houses. Albert and Peggy married in Regina and in 1961 they left and returned to Big Valley to farm with his brother Cecil. They later bought their farm and farmed for a few years before moving to Stettler in 1980 where he started his A. Duncan Contracting business. Albert took pride in his business his biggest accomplishment was the Alberta Prairie Station building.
Albert was an avid gardener; his tomato plants produced enough for all his children and friends. Albert loved fishing, hunting and gardening; he enjoyed fishing with his sons at Cree River in Saskatchewan and fishing at his son Tim’s fish pond with family and friends.
Albert was predeceased by his brothers and sisters: Dick (Evelyn), Sam (Irene), Mae (Archie Watson), Cecil, Charlie, Lyle, Bernice Owens, Lloyd and brother in law Ken Magee.
Albert is survived by his loving family: his wife of 57 years Peggy of Stettler;
son: Ken (Shawna) of Red Deer, their children:
Bobby (Kristen) – Ben and Emily,
Tenille (Jason) – Tayah, Natalie and Paige
Lanny (Maddie) – Heidi and Emmett;
daughter Tammy (Peter) Pollock of Alix, their children:
Darcy – Shane and Alainna
Sarah (Clayton) – Aiden, Jake and Layla;
son Tim of Big Valley;
daughter Rhonda (Todd) Smith of Comox, their children:
Steven, Hayden, Elizabeth and Grant;
son Jason (Tammy) of Erskine, their children:
Brandon and Hannah;
his sister Rose Magee of Fort Saskatchewan, sister in law Sharon Duncan of Big Valley, brother in law Bob Owens of Oshawa; numerous other relatives and a host of dear friends.
A Private Family service will be held, if desire memorial donations be made to Red Deer Hospice, 99 Arnot Ave., Red Deer, AB or a charity of your choice.
