Albert passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Herb Bassett Home in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 90. He was born on April 28, 1927 in Heilsburg, Germany and came to Canada in 1951 where the family made a life for themselves. Soon after he met and married Dolores Winter, his wife of 60 years. Family was always first and foremost. He passed away as he lived, surrounded by the support of his family as he did his whole life. Albert lived to be surrounded by nature. When he was not spending time with family and friends or working on his farm, Albert took every opportunity to hunt and fish with his brother Heinz. From the day Dolores won a trip for two to Hawaii, Albert and Dolores found their passion in travel, and rarely missed a winter trip down south from that point forward. He is survived by his wife Dolores Blank; his son Irwin (Karyle Kelm), grandsons Keegan and Gabriel; his son Daniel (Jackie Skelding), grandson Ryan and granddaughter Kirsten; his daughter Janet (Raymond) Chenier, granddaughter Jennifer, grandson Jonathan (Jodie and Kitana Seegerts) and Kristen (Kim) Chenier; his sister Hildegard Willen; his brother Heinz Blank; as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws and the Winter family. He was predeceased by his parents Adalbert and Martha (Brieskorn) Blank; his son Norman Blank and his brothers Erwin Blank and Alphonse Blank. Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017. Both services will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Celebrant Reverend Father Matthew Nguyen. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Herb Bassett Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
