Agnes Patterson
Agnes May Patterson, Wife of Jim Patterson; Mother of Gail Haakstad (Carmen), Rick Patterson (Susan) and Darin Patterson (JoAnn); Grandmother to Daneil Maude (Alex), Tory Haakstad, Durai Haakstad, Jared Patterson, Ryan Patterson and Brooke Patterson (fiancée Nelson Marques); and Great-Grandmother to Trystin Bain and Jordyn Maude; passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Points West Living.
Mom was born in Beaverlodge on May 2, 1935 to Maurice and Magdalena Lowe. She grew up on the Lowe family farm just east of Beaverlodge, surrounded by her 2 brothers Alan and Joe, and 4 sisters Ruth, Bertha, Beulah and Margie.
During her youth, Mom attended school in Beaverlodge and eventually met and married Jim Patterson in Beaverlodge on May 21, 1955. After their marriage, they moved to Grimshaw, Pouce Coupe, Dawson Creek and eventually Grande Prairie where she resided until her passing.
Mom was a generous, kind, graceful, and loving person who was an avid cheerleader and supporter of not only her children, but those who joined her children in their various activities. Whether it was sitting in the stands in a cold arena, attending an art show, a horse event or a dance recital, Mom was always there to support.
Agnes is survived by sisters Beulah Sanderson and Margie Hodgson.
She was predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Magdalena Lowe, siblings Allen and Annie Lowe, Robert and Bertha Hauger, Gordon and Ruth Albright, Joe and Marj Lowe, Harold Sanderson and Jim Hodgson.
A Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, from 7:00-9:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 – 107 Ave.).
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 8, 2016, at 10:30am, at St Paul’s United Church in Grande Prairie (10206 100 Ave.). A luncheon will follow at the Golden Age Center (10222 101 Ave.).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South Peace Centennial Museum (Box 493, Beaverlodge, AB, T0H 0C0), Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society (Box 21215, Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 6W7), Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT (102, 9823 116 Ave, Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 4B4), or to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Agnes Patterson.
