Agnes “Patricia” Carter
1928-2016
Peacefully Tuesday December 6, 2016 at the age of 88 years,
after a brief hospitalization in the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa,
Ontario.
Pat was the daughter of the late J. Felix Rourke and Ellen
Rourke (née Riley). Pat was born and raised in Saint John,
New Brunswick. In 1951, Pat married a fellow resident of Saint John,
the late Thomas “Tony” Carter. Sons Ronald, Brian and
daughter Cathy were added to the family prior to Tony’s
re-enlistment in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1955. Subsequently,
Pat and her family resided on a number of military bases across Canada
and Germany prior to establishing residence in 1970 in Oshawa,
Ontario. In 1986, Pat returned to reside in Saint John. In 2006, Pat
moved to Ottawa where she resided for the remainder of her
life.
Pat was predeceased by her beloved husband, father, mother,
brother Ronald, sister Evelyn Kelly, brother-in-law John Kelly, all of
her husband’s 8 siblings (and many of their spouses), and
nieces Linda Yo (née Carter), Susan Sullivan
(née Nelson).
Pat is survived and lovingly remembered by her children,
sister Joan Nelson, daughters-in-law Barbara and Karen, son-in-law
John McLean, brother-in-law Ken Nelson, sisters-in-law Jean Carter and
Edna Carter, grandsons Liam, Sean, Owen, Tony, Riley and Chris Carter,
grandson Mathew McLean, granddaughter Carly McLean (Stephan Bailey),
great-grandchildren Lilah and Lucas Bailey along with many nephews,
nieces, relatives and friends.
Pat was educated at Holy Trinity School and Saint John
Vocational School and was a life-long parishioner of Holy Trinity
Church in Saint John.
Friends and family may pay their respects at Kelly Funeral
Home- Orleans, 2370 St-Joseph Blvd. Orleans, Ontario. There will also
be a visitation at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111
Paradise Row, Saint John, NB on Friday December 16,
2016 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, 21 Canon Street in
Saint John, NB at 12:00 PM on Saturday December 17, 2016. Interment in
the Rourke family plot at St Joseph’s Cemetery in Saint
John, NB will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family
would suggest donations to Holy Trinity Church, an institution and
congregation that provided great comfort to Pat throughout her
life.
